I've been recently informed that the Bratz costumes are becoming somewhat of a thing this year. No doubt due in part to the recent movie release. I try not to judge parents, as I am not one nor have been, but this news begs the question what hiccup in evolution is occuring here?
Big headed dolls who care for nothing but shopping are acceptable role models for our daughters. So much so that they're allowed to and allotted sufficient funds to dress up as them in and participate in the wholly communist ritual of begging for treats door to door. Cuz it is communist if you sit back and think about it. You're my neighbor. I and my children deserve some of what you have. The very foundation of communism really. Not that I have anything against communism per se, but I had always assumed the American public was less than fond of the lifestyle.
Apparently no ideology is bad when it results in free chocolate. Commies once a year. Dressed as fictional characters. What could be the harm? Even that workhorse capitalism needs one day year off.
If you trace the history, Halloween is a medieval pagan ritual to worship long since mythicized gods. How some gods came to be mythical while others remained viable deities I'll never understand. It's like trying to figure out why troll dolls sit in closets, their hair slowing drooping with dust, while freakishly big-headed bratz dolls rapidly leave store shelves blank.
Any logic there may have been to find in it was lost when they released the soundtrack.
Bratz costumes: the surest way to mutilate your daughter's self-esteem. But at least she'll have lots of candy!
Communist candy, but candy still the same.
